In my studio in Dumbo a commotion on the street draws me to the window. I peer down and see what appears to be a gaggle of photographers all noisily photographing something across from them (directly under me). I can barely make out the forms of four men decked out in expensive suits, obviously the subjects of a staged photo shoot. But how to explain the numerous photographers across the street? The group appears to number between ten and fifteen, all are women in their twenties, and all seem to be aiming the same style of SLR camera. Some of them are standing poised with camera raised; others are laughing and pointing. As the moment passes and the group seems to inch its way along down the street in the opposite direction of the models, it dawns on me: the photographers are a photo class on a field trip, and they’ve happened across a real photo shoot that has proven irresistible as a (secondary) subject!
